The perfect space is a tool for clarifying a design's core spatial idea at an early design stage. Using models and drawings of an estimated "perfect space", structure and material character of a key situation can be investigated by deliberately isolating and observing it at a more detailed level.
The question of the perfect space excludes other, equally important design parameters, forcing the designer to concentrate on exact observation and spatial application of the chosen situation. The results of this unexpectedly early detailed focus re-informs the further development of other design parameters. |
